Strength belongs in the year.

Weight training gives your walking program another dimension: you practise lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling in a deliberate way. You do not need to look a certain way to start. Beginners can use machines, dumbbells or bands; experienced members can use the equipment and movements they already know. The goal is a repeatable training schedule that works with daily steps rather than competing with them.

The three levels below are examples for generally healthy adults. Choose the one that matches your recent training history and ability to perform the movements confidently. An advanced lifter returning after a long break may restart with the beginner or intermediate schedule. A person in the 50–60+ walking group can also be an advanced lifter. Age groups organize the walking discussion; they do not assign a lifting level.

How it fits downtown Toronto

Use a gym near your home, workplace or regular transit route, or suitable equipment at home. Fitness Two4 does not claim to operate the former Etobicoke gym or a new downtown gym. It does not assign a training venue. A convenient location matters because a session you can repeat after work is more valuable than a perfect plan that requires a long detour. A gym session can sit before an easy walk, after the commute, or on a separate part of the day.

How to record the work

For each session, note the date, exercise, weight or resistance, completed sets and repetitions, and how the final set felt. Review the record each week. Add resistance only when the current movement feels controlled at the planned repetitions; a small increase is enough. If your form changes or discomfort appears, stop that set and adjust. The WhatsApp group can be used for a brief completion check-in without posting personal health information or videos. Optional weekly in-person review can help you discuss your plan, subject to scheduling.
